List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?
There are books that entertain, and then there are books that rebuild a man from the inside out. The ones that don’t just fill your head — they steady your heart. For me, three stand out above the rest: The Greatest Miracle in the World by Og Mandino, Wild at Heart by John Eldredge, and Boundaries by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend. Each one hit me at a different season, but together they shaped the way I live, lead, and rebuild.
The Greatest Miracle in the World reminded me that every sunrise is a second chance. Mandino’s words cut through the noise and made me see that the miracle isn’t success — it’s survival. It’s waking up after failure and choosing to try again. That book taught me gratitude and grit, the kind that doesn’t fade when life gets hard.
Wild at Heart showed me that masculinity isn’t about dominance — it’s about direction. Eldredge wrote for men who’ve lost their fire, and I was one of them. His message pulled me out of the fog and reminded me that a man’s heart was built for adventure, purpose, and protection. It gave me permission to live bold again, not reckless, but intentional.
And Boundaries taught me the hardest lesson of all — that peace requires limits. Cloud and Townsend helped me understand that saying “no” isn’t selfish; it’s survival. That book gave me the framework to rebuild relationships without losing myself in the process. It’s the reason I can coach others now without carrying their weight home.
These books didn’t just inspire me — they equipped me. They’re part of the foundation behind WalterAdkinsJr.com, where I share the same kind of truth that helped me rebuild. If you’re ready to start your own journey, those three titles are a good place to begin. Earned, not given.
